Jim's Do-It-Yourself Shore Shot Case

posted September 16, 2011

We love when our friends take our products and make things that work nicely with them. Jim P. has created his own Shore Shot Bait Cater case system that we just had to share.

Dear Dan,

Finished putting the case together, pix attached. Basically its a Rubbermaid model 1192 ActionPacker and some foam. You could get a Pelican Case, 1780T for about $500 with foam included. The Rubbermaid box runs about $70, foam from Joann's Fabrics runs about $100 if you have the 50% off coupon.

For the foam inserts you need 2 pieces of 3" high density foam 42"x14" for the sides, 2 pieces 5" high density foam 42"x 9" for the pressure tank inserts. Use either a sharp carving knife or an electric knife to cut the foam and the cut outs for the gauges and legs. 1 piece of 5" foam 13"x 11" for the air compressor, 1 piece 2" foam 31"x 13" to cover the tank for the legs to sit on, 1 piece 3" foam 14" x 6" for the end opposite the air compressor, then I put a piece of the packing you had in the shipping box 24"x 14" to go over the legs.

Again total cost about $150 to $170, one hour assembly time. For the barrel they can use either 3" or 4" PVC, 6' long with an end cap and a clean out cap on the other end. Then use scraps of the foam to pad the the barrel, PVC cement will hold the foam in place.
